Horse Folk
The Horse Tribe lives on the wide open plains of the Otherworld. They very rarely take human form, spending most of their lives moving from one place to the next. As both human and animal, they favor pieces of silver braided into their manes and hair. Horses are a noble people, valuing both good manners and bravery in the face of the unknown. They allow their passions to flow freely, but never destructively, drawing strength from emotions that would be too volatile for many.
Horses serve as guides in the Otherworld, sometimes letting travelers mount them, sometimes leading a teasing chase to get a shaman where he or she needs to be. They are also teachers of trance, focusing on rhythm and movement in order to easy the passage between worlds. The drum in particular is sacred to them, and they are adept in its use to help induce altered states of consciousness. Like all the Fire Tribes, Horses are not particularly secretive, and are usual willing to teach their techniques provided they are approached with respect. They also bring the Watery qualities of swiftness and deep sensitivity.
To know Horse is to understand that no matter where you go, or who you interact with, you must keep a strong sense of identity. Even though Horse is always moving from place to place, he knows what lies at his core. Horses are excellent at maintaining boundaries and territory because of this understanding. Because their bounds are well-known, a Horse is free to serve others as he chooses. Such service is never carried out with resentment, but with joy and and an open heart. Martyrdom is looked upon as weak, not being able to stand up for oneself. By all means, find satisfaction in serving others, but do not do so at your own expense.
